LWVMI ACTION ALERT:  URGE STATE SENATE AND HOUSE MEMBERS TO VOTE YES ON SENATE BILLS 508 & 510

The Michigan Senate Civil Rights, Judiciary and Public Safety Committee voted to report SB 508 and SB 510 to the entire Senate for a vote.  SB 508 would prohibit a federal immigration officer from conducting an immigration enforcement action in a sensitive location except if a court order directed the officer to enter the sensitive location or if the action were necessary to address a threat that posed imminent danger to public safety.  SB 510 would prohibit a federal immigration officer from wearing a mask or personal disguise while interacting with a member of the public in performance of the officer's duties, except under specified circumstances.
